Sgt. Scott Ray Vanning 1st Battalion 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment Scott Ray Vanning, 25, passed away in Columbus, Georgia on June 3, 2010. He was born in Puyallup, Washington on March 25, 1985.
Scott graduated from Bethel High School in 2003. While in high school, he participated in Pierce County Search & Rescue, Civil War reenactments and the band. Scott enjoyed hiking, camping, and fishing. Scott joined the U .S. Army right after high school. He was stationed in Korea, Alaska, and Georgia. Scott was a devoted and loving husband and father. Scott will be greatly missed by many.
Preceding Scott in death were his grandmother Shirley Vanning, and his grandfathers Bill Weeks and Ronald (Sweed) Marks. Scott is survived by his wife of five years, JinAh, sons Conor Ray and Aiden James, mother and dad Valerie and Ronald Marks, father Mitchell Sherman, father in law Pan-Guem Park, mother in law Jung-suk Cho, brothers and sisters Jon (wife Danee), Richelle, Jeramy, Michael, Jonathan and Maggie, sisters in law Ji-Hye and Ji-Eun Park, nephews Brett Arben and Heyoung Tae, grandparents Jon and Nadean Vanning, Crystal Weeks, Richard and Nan Sherman, Alyce Marks, as well as many other dear relatives and friends.
Instead of flowers, please donate to the Military Widow and Orphan's Fund. A service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, 1pm, at Mineral Lake Event Center, Mineral, WA. Arrangements are under the direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel, Centralia, WA
